Hello! My name is Shelby W., and I am a piano teacher in the western Pennsylvania area. I graduated in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in piano performance (minor in trumpet performance) from West Virginia Wesleyan College, and I currently attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where I am completing a master's degree in piano performance. I am a graduate assistant at IUP, where I accompany vocalists and instrumentalists in the department in their lessons, juries, and recitals. I work part-time for the Pittsburgh Piano Academy in Wexford, PA, as well as for IUP's Community Music School as a private teaching artist and adult piano class instructor.
I have maintained a private piano studio for over six years. I absolutely love working with students of all ages and experience levels to help them achieve their goals. Private lessons should be about meeting the needs of the student, whether that is becoming the next Lang Lang, compositional strategy, theory, or learning your favorite pop tune! I make learning an instrument fun and motivating for all ages.
