I'm Jacob! I am a first-year university student majoring in Art Education for my bachelor's degree. As a student myself with ADHD, I had struggled a lot in general for much of my elementary school years. But the thing that made the greatest impact on how I viewed school was the teachers that took the time to truly work with me. This is the kind of experience I strive to bring to my students as a tutor; I focus on an adaptive, needs-based approach to learning, where I find ways to build a plan around the individual students unique learning style. I start usually with a general introduction to the topic with a variety of different learning tools (Visual, Auditory, Touch, etc.), and look for which methods they respond well to so I can update my outline accordingly.

I was enrolled in Honors courses in all subject areas, as well as all art related courses (included AP Studio Art). In my senior year, I took up community service as a teacher aid for in the art classes. I worked closely with 4 classes of about 10-20 students in many subjects, typically in small groups and then individually to address the needs of each student. Additionally, I worked with a small group of about 3-4 fourth grade students for afterschool tutoring in reading and math.
