Since 2021, I have conducted private tutoring in the following subjects: AP biology, honors biology, microbiology (for both nursing students and microbiology majors), molecular biology, biochemistry, MCAT biological sciences and GRE. Tutoring allows me to effectively address students' needs and customize both content delivery and pace of instruction. Regardless of whether I am in the classroom or tutoring students privately, I enjoy seeing learners overcome obstacles and succeed in their endeavors. My tutoring methods feature active-learning techniques that allow learners to better grasp the material and become more engaged. For example, instead of purely lecturing about mitosis, I utilize student-tutor discussions, online quizzes/activities, visual aids, and sometimes scientific journals to supplement my descriptive explanations of the subject material.

I have experience teaching and tutoring a diverse array of learners, but I work most effectively with college undergraduates, graduate students and adult learners. As a full-time university instructor and lab coordinator, I taught various lecture and/or laboratory courses in general biology, medical microbiology for nursing students, and molecular biology at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. In the process, I received excellent student evaluations, and I earned a promotion to assistant professor in January 2021. I also served as an academic advisor to several undergraduates completing the pre-medicine and pre-physician assistant studies academic tracks.

I am open to working with learners on either a short-term or long-term basis. Online tutoring is preferred.

I have taught multiple sections of general biology and molecular biology at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. I earned a Ph.D. in microbiology and a B.S. in biology. I have tutored several students in AP biology and regular high school biology via Wyzant over the past year, and I earned a "5" on the AP biology exam many years ago in high school.

I taught a genetics and heredity unit to college freshman for several years. I have also tutored students in genetics in the past. I am familiar with Mendelian, non-Mendelian, and molecular genetics.

I have taught several GRE preparatory courses through other tutoring platforms in the last several years. I have tutored several students privately, and each student showed significant improvement (especially in quantitative reasoning and analytical writing). I took the GRE in 2006 and scored in the top 20% in all three areas of the exam.

I completed my doctoral dissertation on iron transport mechanisms in Escherichia coli. I taught medical microbiology to nursing students for 7 years, earning excellent student evaluations each time. I have tutored several microbiology majors on Wyzant thus far, and I served as a teacher's assistant for 2 majors-level microbiology labs during graduate school.

Tonight’s lesson was fantastic. Dr. G really allowed me to see my weaknesses and what I need to work on. He does great breaking things down and helping me work on strategy and content. He chose great MCAT passages that were HARD but I got through them and I appreciate how he prepared he always is!
