Hello, my name is Sharnika! I am eager to unlock your child’s full potential academically and personally. I have been in the education field for 10+ years. I have worked with various age groups doing various tasks. I am eager to develop more professionally while helping students become their best selves.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in English Liberal Arts, earned from The Lincoln University. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, earned from the Point Park University. In both places I developed a strong foundation in children’s development. My academic background has provided me with comprehensive knowledge in English, equipping me to guide students at various educational levels.
With over 10 years of tutoring experience, I have worked with students from early childhood through high school levels. I have provided one-on-one support as well as group tutoring sessions in subjects including English, Math, History, etc. My previous roles include: private tutor, substitute, assistant teacher, lead teacher, and I am currently a Director at an Early Learning Childhood Center. Throughout these roles, I have helped students understand phonemic awareness, improve writing and spelling skills, improve test scores, and develop into their best selves educationally.
My tutoring approach is student-centered and adaptive. I assess each student’s individual learning style, academic needs, and goals. I utilize a variety of instructional strategies including: Diagnostic Assessments, Scaffolded Instruction, Interactive Learning, Positive Reinforcement, and goal setting/progress tracking. I prioritize creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking intellectual risks.
