Hi, I’m Jo! I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English (professional writing concentration) and music. I graduated cum laude with honors in music and a 3.64 GPA overall.
My professional writing and editing experience includes 12 years as a copy editor and proofreader at a small publishing company whose advertising newspapers and other products have consistently received top recognition in the Mid-Atlantic Community Papers Association’s annual awards. In addition, I served as a correspondent on local government for my area’s primary newspaper for one year, and in college, I was a copy editor on my school’s weekly newspaper.
My musical training started with piano lessons when I was 6 years old. I also played the violin for 10 years, and I learned the basics of the viola, cello, harp, guitar, and organ. In college, I was a paid tutor, coaching college peers in music theory, aural skills (sight-singing and dictation), and music history. I also took a year-long piano pedagogy class. After college, I gained five years of experience teaching one-on-one piano lessons to beginners age 6 and up.
