I am a passionate teacher and like to have interactive tutoring sessions. Feel free to reach out to me to see if our tutoring would be a good fit for you.

With my extensive experience with the pre-med courses, medical school application process, medical school requirements, mastery of anatomy and physiology, public health, and deep knowledge of the material covered in medical school, I am excited to help students in many different areas of science. I have experience teaching students from various age groups and with various needs. I have 6+ experience in helping students in various science courses, reading, writing, and math. I also know how to write well-articulated personal statements for medical school applications, so I would be happy to help you edit your medical school essays and/or AAMCAS / AACOMAS applications.

I have also helped students learn English. As a result of speaking foreign languages, such as Russian, I know how difficult improving your language skills can be, so I am here to help with this. I have successfully helped students who are ESL learners as well as those who would like to learn Russian.

My education history:
M.D. from Eastern Virginia Medical School, 2025;
M.P.H. Candidate at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health;
M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from Eastern Virginia Medical School, 2019;
M.S. in Physiology from Georgetown University, 2017;
B.S. in Biological Sciences from University of Connecticut, 2012.

Based on my experience, I love to help others in graduate school applications, anatomy, physiology, research, biology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, ESL, reading, writing, math, tennis and Russian.

I am a well-rounded, patient person who genuinely enjoys tutoring. I have the ability to adjust to different learning styles and can connect with everyone I meet. Contact me if you're struggling in one of the subjects I tutor, and I will be happy to help.

Anatomy

Anatomy

More specifically, this past year, I completed a medical school anatomy course at Eastern Virginia Medical School with an A- and have extensive experience with human cadaver dissections. I absolutely love anatomy, and I am excited to help anyone learning it.
Physiology

Physiology

I hold a Master's degree in Physiology from Georgetown University and recently finished a Special Master's Program at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where I completed first-year medical school courses alongside medical students. As a result of my studies, I have achieved a level of mastery in physiology and can help students having issues in any specific areas of human physiology.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I am currently a fourth year medical student and have helped at least 20 people with proofreading their college essays, graduate school applications, personal statements, resumes, research papers, grants, work proposals, and much more!
Russian

Russian

I am a native Russian speaker with experience in teaching Russian to non-native Russian speakers. I have tutored Russian to students from different age categories and with various prior language exposures. I have tutored students in basics, such as the Russian alphabet, as well as in complex sentence structures, which include difficult Russian language grammar rules. It is exciting when I teach students Russian, since it is a feat for students to want to learn such difficult language, but with proper practice and tutoring, I believe anyone can conquer this language.
Tennis

Tennis

I have 20+ years of experience playing tennis and teaching others in how to develop forehand, backhand, and proper serving skills. I played on my high school's varsity tennis team as #2 singles spot and helped our team reach the state finals 2 years in a row. I continued playing tennis in college, which is when I realized that I was really enjoying teaching others how to play and seeing them improve their skills. I love playing tennis and am excited to share my skills and passion for the sport with others who want to learn how to play!

Patient, passionate, and knowledgeable tutor

I had a number of sessions with Rena for the past two months preparing for Anatomy class. Rena showed to be a very competent, patient, knowledgeable, passionate, and attentive teacher. She is an easy-going person and I felt very comfortable during our lessons. She was extremely helpful as she understood the complexity of the topics I had to master in Anatomy and offered a lot of visual materials (schemas, pictures, videos, etc.) and mnemonics (I am a visual learner) to help me getting all the concepts. She was also available almost 24 hours and I was able to send her any questions or topics I was struggling with so we went over them during our sessions. For me personally, as a student, it is very important and helpful to talk about a concept several times, and the fact that we went over and over some topics boosted my understanding and memorization as well as my grades and success in the Anatomy course. Additionally, Rena answered all the questions I had regarding the material and its clinical application. I am very grateful to her for help in mastering Anatomy.

sweet, caring lady, and very competent

Rena is such a sweet person. She is very on time. Even when she had an emergency and had to cancel our meeting, she apologized to me for at least 5 times that I even felt bad. She is very intelligent, and extremely humble. She is going to become a great surgeon!
