Hello potential tutee, my name is Danielle Baker and I am excited to be an Online Tutor at Wyzant. Throughout my academic and professional career, I have not only developed strong expertise in basic biology, immunology, cell biology, molecular genetics, and bioinformatics but also honed my ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively. I feel confident in tutor mentorship for students middle school though adult age who need assistance with everything from basic biologic concepts to understanding more advanced microbiology techniques.
During my doctoral studies, I served as a teaching assistant for a rigorous, year-long basic biology graduate course, where I led sessions, tutored students one-on-one, and managed classroom dynamics as the student liaison. This experience refined my skills in breaking down complicated material into manageable lessons tailored to diverse learning styles. Additionally, I mentored five students in scientific techniques and presentations, providing personalized guidance that enhanced their academic growth. These teaching experiences, combined with my extensive research background and proficiency in topics such as PCR, next-generation sequencing, and cell-based assays, equip me to tutor students across a broad range of biology-related subjects confidently.
