Hello! My name is Jessica and I am a Head Start preschool teacher. I have been working in the Early Childhood Education field for six years now. During this time, I have also managed a before and after school program, as well as worked as a Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) for children with autism and behavioral disorders.
I graduated from Misericordia Univeristy with my Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. I currently attend Keystone College as I finish my graduate coursework in Early Childhood Education and Leadership.
I began tutoring with before and after care. The program served children K-6 and offered homework support as a piece to the program. The subjects varied and deepened my understanding of state standards – the expectations of what each grade level is to learn.
My style of teaching is based on something called conscious discipline. This method focuses on the teacher’s response to discipline and offers positive support. It’s important that children feel a sense of belonging as well as a willingness to learn!
I believe that children learn best through play and that tutoring should be engaging and hands-on. Please contact me if you have any questions! I look forward to working with you and your child.
