I have over 20 years experience professionally writing for a variety of audiences and purposes. I started off in academic writing then moved to business and journalistic writing. I have taught college composition classes; consulted businesses, nonprofits, volunteer organizations, & local governments; and written articles recognized by the New York Times, Bloomberg, and NPR. This combination of academic and real world experiences gives me a relatable and practical approach to teaching the difficult skill of writing.

For the past 7 years, I have been a private tutor specializing in high school assignments; college essays; application personal statements and supplementals; business communications; and personal writing, including creative.

In all of these situations, I teach that writing is doable for everyone. However, I also understand that writing is intimidating, frustrating, and hard. I'm good at quickly assessing the specific challenges a student has and finding personalized approaches to overcoming those hurdles. While I have tried and tested lessons in my arsenal, I customize my lessons to each person I'm working with. My goal is to find what works best for you so you can confidently acquire the seemingly messy, but necessary and powerful skill of writing.

Whatever the assignment or where ever you are in the process---ideation, strategizing, research, writing, rewriting, or editing---I have methods, tools, and encouragement to build your skills and confidence.
