I started doing clothing alterations while I was still in high school. I created my business through a need in the local men's store businesses that were located downtown at that time. Their customers would purchase trousers or perhaps a suit and the store would measure and mark the alterations needed. I would then pick up and deliver the finished garments back to the store.

I started doing clothing alterations while I was still in high school. I created my business through a need in the local men's store businesses that were located downtown at that time. Their customers would purchase trousers or perhaps a suit and the store would measure and mark the alterations needed. I would then pick up and deliver the finished garments back to the store.

Years passed and this type of work allowed me to stay at home and raise my children while still bringing in an income. I have always found the work challenging and satisfying. It pushes creative thought processes and gives a tremendous sense of accomplishment when a job is completed with precision and accuracy and produces a quality finished product.

Years of experience in sewing has been my education. Doing work for fine men's clothiers demanded that my work be professional and of high quality. Customer's certainly would not spend hundreds of dollars to purchase a new suit to have it look "okay" after the alterations. They want, and have every right, to have their garments look "impeccable" and fine enough to where to the most formal event.

My general thoughts about my work is that I treat every garment as if it is being worn by the person I most respect, or perhaps the president of the United States. He would not be wearing pants that have been tacked in place by someone "just to get him through."

The media would see it and comment on it. Professionals want and need their clothing to exude quality and professionalism. All the small details create their presence and it ALL matters. I would love to meet and teach anyone that has the desire to learn. Alterations done expertly, gives you a tremendous sense of accomplishment. At times I compare myself to an automobile mechanic.

They don't build the cars, they take them apart to repair the broken pieces and then put them back together in working order. As if someone purchases a jacket and the sleeves are too long. I take them apart, shorten the fabric, and put it a
