In the past twelve years I have lived in Hawaii, Italy, and North Carolina. I have taught grades 7-12 in public and private schools. Most of my experience is in teaching Social Studies, but I have also taught ELA and worked as a special education teacher. Having grown up in western PA, my family decided to move here after my husband separated from the U.S. Army. I’m working of acquiring my PA teaching certificate, and taking advanced coursework in professional writing.
Tutoring has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had as an educator. I began tutoring foreign exchange students in college, where I could not only help students learn English, but also help acclimate them to a new country and culture. I have found that most students benefit from one on one instruction. This model allows me to assess my student’s learning style, and tailor my approach accordingly. I have a passion for the liberal arts, and I would love to help students reach their goals for success. I love forward to meeting you!
My undergraduate education was very writing intensive. Graduate school was where I refined my writing and research capabilities.
My experiences traveling and living abroad give me a unique perspective on European History. My degrees, plus my passion for the subject make me an excellent tutor. I love helping students to see the relevance in history, while helping them to think critically.
