I graduated from Cornell University with a Major in math and Minor in Philosophy. During and after college, I worked tutoring a variety of subjects including algebra, geometry, calculus, SAT prep, coding, and chess.

After graduating, I spent several years working for a tech education company (Lavner Education), designing and teaching courses, lessons, and curricula to a variety of students. I taught groups of various sizes, but I always enjoyed teaching small groups or individuals the best. I believe learning is an extremely specialized process that works best with individual attention.

I have worked with a large variety of students from elementary to college, to adults. I have worked with students who were struggling and needed to pass a course, students who needed help reaching a goal score on a test, and students who were looking to get ahead and learn additional specialties of their choosing such as cryptography or computer science.

I love to see students succeed in their goals and improve and believe strongly that learning works best when it is adapted to the needs of the student. I welcome any resources, suggestions, or preferences that the student or parent provides. Feel free to come with questions, practice tests, or homework.

I am easy to reach and quick to respond. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

I played chess through high school and college playing in tournaments such as States, Nationals, and US Amateur Team East with high placements. I have a uscf over the board rating of 1958 and rapid rating of over 2200 on Lichess. I have taught individual lessons to beginner and intermediate players and groups.

I took the GRE test within the last year and scored 169 Quant and 170 Verbal for a total of 339 out of a possible 340.

Java

Java was the first programming language I learned when I was in high school. I took the AP test and scored a 5. I continued to program as a hobby during college, making small applications and games. I also took some courses, such as data structures and algorithms. I have designed and taught week long courses for beginner programming students in Java, C++, and Python.
SAT Math

SAT Math

When I took the SATs, I received a perfect 800 on the math section. I went on to be a math major at Cornell University, and I have tutored multiple students to prepare for the SAT successfully. I have also taken a practice test for the current digital version of the SAT and scored 1580.
SAT Reading

SAT Reading

When I took the SATs, I scored 1530 out of 1600. On a practice test for the current digital version of the SAT I scored 1580. I have tutored numerous students on both the math and reading portions of the SAT and helped them reach their goal scores. More recently, I have taken the GRE (which has a very similar verbal section) and scored a perfect 170.

Amazing and knowledgable GRE tutor

I highly recommend Will if you need help with the GRE (or really anything involving math/verbal skills). I worked with him for a few weeks after getting my original GRE score of 160V/155Q, and he was able to help get my score up to a 165V/169Q, which was my exact goal score! Will was immensely helpful for both the verbal and quant sections and great at explaining topics in different ways when I didn't get it right away.
