I scored a 517 on the MCAT, including a 131 in CARS, and I help students approach CARS as a structured reasoning section rather than an unpredictable reading test. My academic background includes a B.S. in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry and a minor in Bioinformatics, as well as an M.Sc. in Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine completed as a Fulbright Scholar.
My tutoring approach focuses on identifying the author’s central argument, recognizing tone and perspective, distinguishing passage evidence from outside assumptions, and eliminating attractive but unsupported answers. I am especially helpful for students who understand the passage but repeatedly get stuck between two choices, struggle with timing, or complete large numbers of practice questions without seeing consistent improvement. Rather than giving vague advice such as “read more carefully,” I explain exactly why an answer is correct, why the other choices are wrong, and what reasoning habit should change.
During lessons, we can work through timed passages, review AAMC materials, analyze missed questions, and build a personalized CARS strategy. I teach students how to create an effective error log and identify recurring patterns in their mistakes so that each practice session produces measurable improvement. My goal is to help students develop a repeatable system they can trust on test day, even when a passage is unfamiliar, abstract, or difficult.
