In high school, I worked as a peer tutor, private SAT prep tutor and private math tutor for high school freshman. In the past I have tutored on the Varsity Tutors platform, tutoring subjects such as ACT test prep, trigonometry and AP Calculus AB. I was highly rated by my students for helping them better understand the material, receiving a cumulative 4.9 star rating. I currently work as a teacher's assistant in the Bryn Mawr math department for a class on mathematical modeling and creating simulations using computer programming.
Overall, I am a math and college admissions test prep tutor and an advocate for STEM education. I believe that math education should be more than just rote memorization of formulas, and I am passionate about getting students to see the fun and beauty of mathematics. I believe everyone should have access to a quality math education. In my experience, I've found find that by prioritizing student understanding and enjoyment of the material, you will see both an improved academic performance and a higher level of student engagement.
