I’m Dan, a PhD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania’s Classical Studies department where I’m working on my dissertation on Aristotle’s theory of the soul. I have over 14 years experience working in Latin and Ancient Greek texts and the cultures which produced them. Additionally, I have tutored students in Latin and Greek, English, and Math for over 20 years! As graduate instructor at the University of Pennsylvania I have taught Latin I and II, Ancient Greek I and II, Accelerated Summer Latin I and II, Accelerated Summer Ancient Greek I and II, and I've also served as a Teaching Assistant for some of the most renown classicists and ancient historians in the field. I enjoy working one on one with students of all ages, my primary goal being to help them achieve academic rigor and excellence in the acquisition of their language and writing skills.

I first began studying Ancient Greek as an undergraduate in 2013. I immediately fell in love with the language and I have never stopped since. The language of Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Sophocles, Euripides, Aeschylus, and so many other great ancient thinkers and playwrights, the studying of Ancient Greek can open up an endless world of wonder to those of us lucky enough to be able to study it. I am always happy to share my love of the Ancient Greek language with any student looking to improve their skills in this language. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, I can still help to enrich your reading experience of this endlessly fascinating language.

I have studied the histories of a wide range of religions from around the world for over 20 years now, including the New and Old Testaments of the Christian Bible, the Hebrew Bible, and other early apocryphal texts. Additionally, I have studied Vedic and Hindu texts such as the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. Finally, I have over 14 years of training in studying the ancient Greco-Roman and Egyptian cultures and religions, in particular their intense focus on the afterlife. I am happy to tutor in any one of these subject areas, or to lead a comparative study with someone who wants to explore and compare and contrast various religious themes from across different cultures and times.
