Hello! My name is Emma, and I am a student at Yale University studying Economics and Theater and Performance Studies. I graduated as valedictorian of North Catholic High School in 2022. Through the National Honor Society Peer Tutor Program and teaching Taekwondo classes as fourth-degree black belt, I have taught students of all ages (three through adulthood) in multiple disciplines. Additionally, I received acceptances from colleges such as Princeton, Stanford, Brown, Cornell, and Duke, in addition to the Stamps Scholarship and Jefferson Scholarship. These achievements have granted me first-hand experience with standardized testing, the college application process, and admissions.
Having been named a National Merit Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction for my academics and service in high school, I am also familiar with engaging with students in meaningful ways while building confidence in the classroom. My method of teaching, mainly one-on-one in academic settings in the past, is focused on allowing students to outline and reach their own personal definitions of success. I also take their specific learning preferences into account as I plan each lesson. I am passionate about granting students the tools they will need to excel on their standardized assessments so that they may attend their "dream school."
Regarding additional qualifications, I am a NHS Scholarship Finalist and HSF Scholar. I have an SAT score of 1570 (800 Math, 770 Reading and Writing) and also earned a score of 800 on the SAT Math II Subject Test. I received scores of 5 on eleven AP exams during high school. My recent experience with standardized tests has allowed me to develop an effective course involving test taking strategies, numerous practice tests, feedback and further practice on missed questions, and flashcards to assist with math formulas and reading comprehension skills. I adapt students' study methods with this program to ensure that they have seen many question types and feel prepared before the exam.
