Hi! I have been working at colleges in New York and Pennsylvania for more than 30 years, focusing my own career on student and alumni finding their career paths, searching for and securing part-time, intern, and full-time positions, and applying to graduate and professional school. I enjoy helping people through one-on-one meetings to work on their resumes, cover letters, interviewing skills, job search strategies, and personal statements for applications. While this may not sound all that exciting, I tend to engage in upbeat and fun conversations and create and improve materials while empowering the people I help to understand how to do so on their own in the future.

After completing my undergraduate education at Cornell University, I earned my career counseling Master's and Specialist credentials at the University of Maryland. I have advised and coached students across majors and fields of interest from first year through doctoral level as well as alumni from these varied programs at a large urban institution, a select liberal arts college, and small private universities. I have covered career planning/transition and job search assistance in industries from business to healthcare to arts to education to technology to nonprofit and many more. While I incorporate counseling, coaching, and advising in my work, I also view myself as a teacher, tapping into years of teaching both test prep courses and career, education, and life planning coursework at NYU for traditional and adult learners.

I look forward to working with you. Let's have some fun while getting the job done.

My graduate education at University of Maryland focused on Counseling and Personnel Services with a specific focus on career development and counseling. My courses involved counseling theory and practice, career development theory, vocational assessment, college student development, and multicultural issues. I have worked in college career centers on the east coast for more than 30 years and led center staffs for the past 17 years, training, supervising, and evaluating career advisors, coaches, and administrators.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

Throughout my career in higher education and career services, I have had the opportunity to present dozens upon dozens of workshops on interviewing for jobs and graduate/professional school to undergraduates, grad students, and alumni of colleges and universities on the east coast. I started in my years as a practicum student at University of Maryland and continued to hone my skills in a variety of college career center settings. I have conducted hundreds of mock interviews in person and online for decades, helping people across fields and industries to prepare and practice for interviews and achieve their goals. Through my involvement in national and regional professional associations, I have shared best practices with other career center staff as well as recruiters from companies and organizations throughout the country.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

Throughout my career in higher education and career services, I have had the opportunity to help undergraduates, grad students, and alumni of colleges and universities on the east coast prepare their applications for admissions to their next level of study. One of the most important aspects of the application is the personal statement along with any supplemental essays. I started reviewing and editing personal statements in my years as a practicum student at University of Maryland and continued to hone my skills in a variety of college career center settings. I have reviewed dozens upon dozens of personal statements over three decades, helping people across academic disciplines achieve their graduate/professional education goals. Through my involvement in national and regional professional associations, I have shared best practices with other career center staff throughout the country on this topic as well.

Marc Goldman, a patient, knowledgable, and exceptional tutor

Me and Marc worked on my resume for the duration of the meeting. Marc was very patient as he explained to me different minutiae of the resume writing process that I was ignorant of, allowing me to improve may resume writing skills while improving my resume. Marc possesses a sharpe eye for detail, which is always crucial with help for academic material of any type. Even though I often prematurely assumed we were done with certain sections, Marc corrected me multiple times and was tireless and relentless in achieving our share goal of honing an attractive finished product. For these reasons, I am grateful he was my tutor, and would recommend him to anyone else interested.
