I learned to speak Spanish as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Chile from 1962 to 1964. Subsequently, I utilized my knowledge of Spanish as the International Sales Manager for the James G. Biddle Co. In that capacity I traveled to Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru,Chile, Uruguay and Brazil. I have also used my knowledge of Spanish while visiting Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica and Spain. About twenty months ago I served as a tutor, for several months, twice a week, for a Coatesville High School student. In 2001 I volunteered as the translator for a thirteen year old girl who came to the United States from Peru to receive plastic surgery at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ. I accompanied her and her mother and translated for them on twelve visits to the hospital. I also accompanied them at other times during their three-month stay in the U.S. I have also volunteered at La Communidad Hispanica, Kennett Square, taking Spanish speaking patients to doctor appointments and translating as required. My communication skills are good and I am very affable.
