I have been teaching science in the middle school classroom for the last 20 years, and in that time have taught life, earth, and physical science across multiple grades! I thoroughly enjoy bringing my love of the natural world to my students through interactive lessons, classroom discussions, self-guided exploration, and of course, hands-on lab activities. I have a bachelors degree in biology and secondary science education, and have been a member of the National Science Teachers Association, and the National Science Foundation's Math Science Partnership.
In addition to my background in the sciences, I have also been our school yearbook adviser for the past 20 years as well, guiding my student staff in the use of graphic design and desktop publishing. I am very well-versed in Adobe products such as Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro, and have been an avid photographer for most of my life.
Finally, I have also been the director of our high school spring musical for the same two decades, and come from an extensive and life-long background in the theater, having directed or performed in over a hundred shows in my lifetime. I also oversee a summer theater camp for younger students in grades 2 through 8, where we teach theater and acting skills, vocal performance, and technical aspects of the stage, all while producing and performing a fully-staged Broadway Junior production.
I look forward to meeting with you and your student to find out if I would be a good fit for your child's tutoring needs!
