I have six years of experience teaching reading and writing at a learning center, including several students on the middle school level. I have a B.A. in English from Rutgers University and an M.Ed. in English from DeSales University.

SAT Reading

In SAT Critical Reading I can show students how to find the big picture through the small details. Your son or daughter and I will put together a method which works for him or her. We will also read a novel together, during which I will show him or her the finer points of not just reading, but reading with intent and purpose to get the most out of it.

SAT Writing

As someone who has written professionally for more than 25 years and taught it for more than six years, I can help writers improve their thinking as well as their writing processes. I can help the student through the mechanical processes of grammar through thoughtful, interesting lessons.

Writing

I have been a writer, editor and journalist for 26 years. I have taught writing and SAT writing for seven years. My students learn the value of using better vocabulary, better transitions and better thesis development while learning the nuts and bolts of grammar. My students also learn the basic elements of good writing -- theme and thesis development, point of view, vocabulary, style and organization.
