Experienced elementary teacher in English Language Arts and Math

Hi! I’m Marji and I am a very experienced elementary teacher specializing in English Language Arts and Elementary Math. Having taught for 25 years, I know that it is something I was meant to do. Currently, I am my grade level’s senior teacher, where I am responsible for implementing and delivering instruction based on the state requirements. I am very organized and detail oriented. I hold a “Distinguished” qualification for my state teacher evaluation scale and proudly possess a “highly qualified” rating for my state and district.
I truly love teaching children! I get excited seeing their confidence soar when they “get it.” Nothing makes me prouder than to have had a part in it. Each child is unique in their learning style, and I find highly rewarding to help them reach their highest potential.

I have taught elementary math for 25 years and use Common Core national standards. I am currently enrolled in my state’s continuing education program for teachers where best practice teaching standards are used and I am able to incorporate them in my lessons

I teach the Common Core standards and use a research-based ELA reading curriculum that incorporates reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and grammar skills as well as writing genres.

I am qualified in the administration of DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literature) that includes Phonics and Phoneme Awareness.

I am fluent in teaching Words Their Way, a teaching format that focuses on a student’s own ability level while learning various methods such as word patterns, prefixes, suffixes, word origin, and syntax to help achieve accuracy in spelling.
