Hello! My name is Niambi (Miss R), and I’m currently a Teaching Assistant and Tutor at Girard College, where I’ve been working with students for the past two years. I specialize in elementary-level math and literacy, focusing on building strong academic foundations through patience, consistency, and engaging instruction.
In math, I’ve supported:
2nd Grade: Counting money, long addition and subtraction
3rd Grade: Multiplication
5th Grade: Fractions, algebra, linear equations, graphs, and probability
In literacy, I have experience tutoring 3rd grade phonics using the Wilson Language System: FUNdations, a structured phonics program designed to support early reading development. I’ve helped students improve their decoding skills, reading fluency, and overall confidence in literacy.
I’m currently pursuing a double major in Education in English and Women & Gender Studies at West Chester University. My academic background supports my commitment to inclusive, student-centered learning.
I’ve also served as a student teacher at a Community Charter School, where I assisted a music teacher in introducing young students to the violin. This role deepened my understanding of how to support children with diverse learning needs, including one student on the autism spectrum. It reminded me that patience and flexibility are essential in education.
Outside the classroom, I’ve volunteered in schools, churches, and at community events. I’ve been a face painter at Mastery Charter School and helped organize school and food drives through local organizations. These experiences have strengthened my communication, planning, and leadership skills—all of which I bring to my tutoring sessions.
