I am a veteran STEM educator with nearly 30 years of teaching experience in mathematics, science, and engineering. Throughout my career, I have worked with hundreds of students ranging from middle school through high school in both classroom and small-group settings. I currently teach high school engineering courses where students regularly apply concepts from Algebra, Physics, Chemistry, Trigonometry, and Precalculus to solve real-world design challenges. In addition to teaching technical content, I help students develop the problem-solving, critical-thinking, and study skills needed for long-term academic success.

My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a Master's degree in Education. As a certified teacher, I understand not only the content students are learning, but also how to identify misconceptions, close learning gaps, and build confidence. Whether a student is preparing for an exam, trying to improve grades, or looking to strengthen foundational skills before moving into a more advanced course, I tailor each lesson to the student's individual needs and learning style.

My tutoring approach focuses on understanding concepts rather than memorizing procedures. I believe students learn best when they understand why a process works and how it connects to the bigger picture. During our sessions, I use guided practice, questioning strategies, and real-world examples to help students become independent problem solvers. My goal is not only to help students succeed in their current course, but also to build the confidence and skills they will carry forward into future STEM classes.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra is a foundational subject that supports success in higher-level mathematics, science, and engineering courses. Throughout my nearly 30 years as a STEM educator, I have regularly helped students develop the algebraic reasoning and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in Algebra I and beyond. I work with students to build confidence in solving equations, working with functions, interpreting word problems, and understanding mathematical relationships. My approach emphasizes conceptual understanding and clear problem-solving strategies rather than memorizing procedures.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra II serves as a critical bridge between foundational algebra skills and advanced mathematics courses such as Precalculus, Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry. As a veteran STEM educator with nearly 30 years of teaching experience, I have helped students strengthen their understanding of functions, systems of equations, polynomials, exponential models, and other key Algebra II concepts. My engineering background allows me to connect abstract mathematical ideas to practical applications and real-world problem solving. I focus on helping students develop a deep understanding of concepts while building the confidence needed to tackle challenging coursework independently.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I hold a degree in Chemical Engineering and have nearly 30 years of experience teaching STEM subjects. My educational background required extensive coursework in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and engineering principles, providing a strong foundation for helping students understand both the concepts and calculations involved in Chemistry. Throughout my teaching career, I have helped students develop analytical thinking and problem-solving skills while building confidence in topics such as chemical reactions, stoichiometry, solutions, atomic structure, and thermochemistry. My approach emphasizes understanding the underlying concepts, connecting them to real-world applications, and developing the quantitative reasoning skills necessary for success in Chemistry and other STEM courses.
Physics

Physics

I taught high school Physics for approximately 15 years and have nearly 30 years of STEM teaching experience overall. My background in engineering allows me to connect Physics concepts to real-world applications, helping students understand not only how to solve problems but why the underlying principles work. I have worked with students ranging from those needing support with foundational concepts to those preparing for advanced coursework and assessments. My teaching approach emphasizes conceptual understanding, problem-solving strategies, and building the confidence students need to succeed independently.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus provides the mathematical foundation for Calculus, Physics, engineering, and many other STEM disciplines. As a veteran STEM educator with nearly 30 years of teaching experience and a degree in Chemical Engineering, I have extensive experience applying advanced mathematical concepts to real-world problems. I help students develop a strong understanding of functions, trigonometry, polynomial and exponential models, and analytical problem-solving techniques that are essential for success in higher-level mathematics. My approach emphasizes conceptual understanding, clear problem-solving strategies, and building the confidence needed to tackle challenging coursework independently.
SAT Math
