I am a veteran STEM educator with nearly 30 years of teaching experience in mathematics, science, and engineering. Throughout my career, I have worked with hundreds of students ranging from middle school through high school in both classroom and small-group settings. I currently teach high school engineering courses where students regularly apply concepts from Algebra, Physics, Chemistry, Trigonometry, and Precalculus to solve real-world design challenges. In addition to teaching technical content, I help students develop the problem-solving, critical-thinking, and study skills needed for long-term academic success.
My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a Master's degree in Education. As a certified teacher, I understand not only the content students are learning, but also how to identify misconceptions, close learning gaps, and build confidence. Whether a student is preparing for an exam, trying to improve grades, or looking to strengthen foundational skills before moving into a more advanced course, I tailor each lesson to the student's individual needs and learning style.
My tutoring approach focuses on understanding concepts rather than memorizing procedures. I believe students learn best when they understand why a process works and how it connects to the bigger picture. During our sessions, I use guided practice, questioning strategies, and real-world examples to help students become independent problem solvers. My goal is not only to help students succeed in their current course, but also to build the confidence and skills they will carry forward into future STEM classes.
