I have 17 years of bedside nursing experience, both in Adult Critical Care and Med/Surg, and am now a Clinical Educator for nightshift nursing staff in the hospital where I work. I have a Master's in Nursing Education. I spent the last 3 semesters of my program working in the simulation/learning center at the nursing school that I was attending for grad school. I worked with mostly undergraduate nursing students. Some topics I routinely taught: med administration and calculations, patient assessment techniques, wound care, IV and phlebotomy techniques, emergency management. I am also skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, pathophysiology, lab interpretation including ABGs, among many other topics.

I love teaching undergraduate nursing students! I am down-to-earth and approachable, the person people go to when they think they have a "stupid question" and are afraid to ask anyone else (p.s. there are no stupid questions!). As your tutor, I will work with you to figure out where exactly you are having trouble with a certain topic and use different types of learning tools to help you understand. I will take into account your own learning style and how you best learn and retain information. I especially like using case studies and NCLEX-style questions, and sharing my own personal nursing-related stories to help reinforce what I am teaching. I will also take into account what other stressors you have going on in your life...sometimes other things going on outside of school can interfere with your ability to learn/retain information, so we can come up with a plan to help you succeed.

Approved Subjects

NCLEX

NCLEX

Nursing Education was the focus for my Masters Degree. Several classes were dedicated to the subject of teaching nursing students in an academic setting, and NCLEX-style nursing questions were a frequent topic, especially the newer Next Generation NCLEX questions. I not only have the clinical knowledge and experience to be able to answer questions like these, but received specific guidance and education on how to write NCLEX-style questions, and have included those types of questions in educational materials I have created in the past.
Nursing

Nursing

I have worked at the bedside in both Adult Med/Surg and Adult Critical Care settings over the last 17 years. I have extensive experience in patient assessment, disease management, recognizing signs/symptoms, medication administration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, lab value interpretation, fluid and electrolyte imbalances (and more). I currently am a Clinical Educator in a hospital setting. I have experience working with undergraduate nursing students helping to reinforce their clinical skills and improve their med calculations, med administration, patient assessment skills, and clinical judgement.
