Middle School Math Help from a Former Classroom Teacher

I bring both strong teaching experience and a very student-centered approach to tutoring. I’m a former Pennsylvania-certified middle school Math and Science teacher, and I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math in the classroom over four years. My experience as a teacher helps me clearly explain concepts, anticipate where students often get stuck, and adjust how I teach based on each student’s learning style and needs. I have a Bachelors of Science from Villanova University and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education.

I also have four years of experience as an after-school math tutor. During that time, I worked one-on-one with many middle school students, some of whom I tutored for three years in a row. I’ve supported students with nightly homework, test and quiz prep, filling in skill gaps, and building strong study habits. I love getting to know my students over time and helping them grow not just academically, but also in confidence.

My tutoring style is calm, encouraging, and light-hearted. Math can feel overwhelming for a lot of students, so I focus on creating a low-stress environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I work hard to build strong relationships with my students so sessions feel productive, supportive, and even fun.

Parents can also expect reliability and clear communication. I’m punctual, prepared, and consistent, and I understand how important it is for families to be able to count on their tutor. I take that responsibility seriously and truly enjoy partnering with students and parents to help kids succeed.
