French for Adult Beginners – Patient, Clear, and Encouraging
For me, learning French began with four years of study in high school, and the confident belief that I’d be fluent by graduation. French for Adult Beginners – Patient, Clear, and Encouraging
For me, learning French began with four years of study in high school, and the confident belief that I’d be fluent by graduation. Like many students, I quickly learned that language mastery doesn’t work that way. Real progress takes time, thoughtful practice, and the right guidance – especially for adult learners.
Between 2022 and 2025, I spent multiple extended periods living and studying in Paris, immersing myself in the French language and culture. After 275 hours of intensive study at Alliance Française in Paris, I developed a strong foundation in French grammar, vocabulary, conversation - and, importantly, pronunciation.
Pronunciation is one of my greatest strengths as a teacher. Through years of immersion, daily practice, and a natural ear for sound, I help students develop clear, authentic French pronunciation from the very beginning. While grammar is essential, pronunciation is what allows students to be understood and to feel confident speaking – something many adult learners have been missing.
I’m CELTA-certified through Cambridge University English, having earned a Pass B distinction for strong teaching performance. This internationally recognized ESL certification has deepened my understanding of how adults learn new languages – knowledge I bring into every French lesson.
In addition to private tutoring, I currently teach beginning French to adult learners at a local community college, working with students who are starting from zero or returning to French after many years away. This experience shapes my teaching style: clear explanations, steady pacing, and a supportive, judgment-free environment.
I specialize in adult beginners and enjoy working with students who may feel nervous, rusty, or unsure where to begin. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, confident, and genuinely encouraged as you build real, usable French skills – one step at a time.
