Hi!
I have a PhD and a Master’s in English, and a certification in teaching English as a second language (CertTESOL). For the past ten years, I have taught rhetoric and composition at multiple nationally ranked universities, and have individually worked with students of all backgrounds to improve upon their writing, reading, and research skills. I’ve also previously taught at an academic bridge program at a top 25 global university outside the US, and every summer I work as an ETS grader on the AP English Language and Composition exam.
In both the classroom and one-on-one settings, I employ a wide variety of innovative assignments across various contexts and purposes so that my students are not only put in a better position to earn top grades, they are also strongly encouraged to fully develop as writing professionals in their chosen academic and career paths. I have written recommendations for previous students who have gone on to successfully apply to study abroad programs, law school, med school, and various graduate programs. I am always invested in my students’ success.
I have worked extensively with first-year college students so I understand how to best prepare high school students for the rigors of a college curriculum. At the core of my pedagogy is a strong belief in the capabilities of every student to realize superior skills in writing, overall communication, and scholarly research. To ensure this, I tailor every one-on-one session to best meet the immediate and long-term needs and goals of the student. I consider every student’s learning journey to be an ongoing conversation focused on meeting achievable goals and aspirations.
I look forward to discussing how I can help!
