Hi, I’m Matt. I help people learn cybersecurity, computer science, and multimedia production through practical, hands-on sessions that focus on real skills and tools.

My background is in offensive cybersecurity, finding weaknesses by thinking like an adversary. I teach vulnerability discovery, network scanning, scripting, encryption, and exploit development using tools like Wireshark, Nmap, Netcat, Metasploit, Hydra, Mimikatz, Nikto - along with common privilege-escalation techniques. We cover the fundamentals that make everything click, the OSI and TCP/IP models, CCNA-level networking concepts, and CompTIA A+ & Sec core knowledge.

Sessions focus on learning by doing. Guided labs, system simulations, videos and demonstrations to show you how attacks and defenses actually work.

I also teach multimedia production and visual effects. If you’re interested in video or content creation, I teach tools like Adobe Premiere, AE, Audition, Audacity, and Davinci. Topics include green-screening, compositing, motion graphics, 3D modeling, and optimization for platforms like YouTube.

I’m a military veteran and Mensa member, and I bring a winners attitude with an approachable teaching style. My sessions work especially well for adult learners, ande I'm totally down working with neurodivergent personalities.

My rates are simple: hourly, rounded down to the nearest 15 minutes, with no hidden fees or charges for prep unless we agree ahead of time.

Whether you're exploring cybersecurity, building technical skills, or working on creative projects, I’m here to help you build real, lasting knowledge.

Computer Gaming

Computer Gaming

A dedicated video game fan since 1987, at the age of 6 learned to install games on a PS/2 with DOS operating system using only the command line. I started building computers around 2006 when I decided to transition from consoles to more customizable PCs. Since that time, I have built no less than 8 unique systems for myself and various others for friends and families - most of which were gaming centric. Interestingly and relatedly, I served in the US Army as a combat soldier for 5 years. While video games will never translate into real war, nor make you a better shot in real life, many of the concepts and tactics we mastered in the Army: teamwork, counter-ambush maneuvers, flanking, etc. translate into the competitive video game scene making much better players. Most people just need an experienced coach familiar with both - In order to objectively analyze a player's shortcomings which, they may not be willing to look at; followed by designing drills to defeat that particular weakness. So, whether it's designing and building systems or breaking into the newly created and highly lucrative competitive video game industry, I'm someone with the ability to help you achieve your goal. I guarantee the individuals I tutor are happy with their lessons, and I'm enthusiastic about learning. If I can be of service, please reach out!
Computer Science

Computer Science

I am currently halfway through my bachelor's at the University of Maryland where I study Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics, my interests lay at the intersection of physical security and cybersecurity. I have an overall broad general knowledge about computers, from how they work at the hardware level, CPU operations, how assembly and machine code work, abstraction layers, the operation of memory (RAM), reverse-engineering software, cryptography and public/private keys, basic programming and web design, penetration testing, multiple OS (Windows/Linux of all flavors), computer auditing, subnetting, the 7 layer OSI networking model, and I could go on, and on, and on. I have dedicated my life to understanding computers at a fundamental level - fascinated with how humans figured out a way to make sand, think... and remember. If you need help in one of these areas, or a general quest for computer knowledge, I am the guy you want to speak with.

He Knows His Programming

A thoughtful, detail-oriented individual that knows his subjects well. He accomplished in 20 minutes what another with years of experience could not accomplish in over an hour. I employed him to set up my new pc with Linux which he easily accomplished, including an important Windows-only program he easily imported from my Windows pc to my Linux pc. If you have a Linux question, situation, or just want someone to properly setup your pc to run Linux, you cannot do better than Matthew. And he's a really nice guy too. :-)

Quick-to-Learn an app he'd never seen before...and then helped me figure it out!

Matthew learned a high-tech animation quickly in order to help me. As I've used the app a bit before, together, we figured it out, so he's a good listener and team-player as well. Even prorated the hour charge and provided a written summary of what we did.

problem solved and lesson learned

Matt was total awesome! He showed me so many additional Powershell commands and I was astounded. He had patience with my slow typing but knew when to take over to speed up the process. As a non traditional older budding IT professional, Matt gave me confidence that some day I will be an asset to an organization as a network administrator. What a boost of confidence. Many tutors look down on newbie’s- happily no such attitude for Matt! I would recommend Matt for any studying Windows Active Directory topics! He was great also with VM’s!

Patient and efficient

Matthew worked with me on CompTIA+ certification Core 2 exam study. He was very patient, used every minute of the hour efficiently, was quick to encourage and gentle with my ego (I have had teachers/tutors complain that I can't seem to learn or grasp the material). I felt my knowledge and confidence in the exam and the topics grow by the second. I look forward to our second session and am excited to ace my exam!

Knowledgeable about Networking topics and sharp about troubleshooting tech problems

As the session unfolded I felt like Matt gave me more credit about the topic then I actually knew and after my time limit, my Cisco packet tracer lab and was about 40% done and then read more about the topic and was able to incorporate CLI commands that he shared with me to streamline my time accomplishing the assignment.
