Hi, I’m Matt. I help people learn cybersecurity, computer science, and multimedia production through practical, hands-on sessions that focus on real skills and tools.

My background is in offensive cybersecurity, finding weaknesses by thinking like an adversary. I teach vulnerability discovery, network scanning, scripting, encryption, and exploit development using tools like Wireshark, Nmap, Netcat, Metasploit, Hydra, Mimikatz, Nikto - along with common privilege-escalation techniques. We cover the fundamentals that make everything click, the OSI and TCP/IP models, CCNA-level networking concepts, and CompTIA A+ & Sec core knowledge.

Sessions focus on learning by doing. Guided labs, system simulations, videos and demonstrations to show you how attacks and defenses actually work.

I also teach multimedia production and visual effects. If you’re interested in video or content creation, I teach tools like Adobe Premiere, AE, Audition, Audacity, and Davinci. Topics include green-screening, compositing, motion graphics, 3D modeling, and optimization for platforms like YouTube.

I’m a military veteran and Mensa member, and I bring a winners attitude with an approachable teaching style. My sessions work especially well for adult learners, ande I'm totally down working with neurodivergent personalities.

My rates are simple: hourly, rounded down to the nearest 15 minutes, with no hidden fees or charges for prep unless we agree ahead of time.

Whether you're exploring cybersecurity, building technical skills, or working on creative projects, I’m here to help you build real, lasting knowledge.

Approved Subjects

ADHD

ADHD

In 2022, I completed a research paper focused on adult ADHD, including common symptoms, current treatment approaches, and the challenges ADHD can create with attention, organization, time management, and executive functioning. I pursued this research because I wanted to better understand the difficulties many students face and improve the way I support learners who struggle with focus, planning, task initiation, and information retention. My work with students is educational rather than clinical. I focus on practical strategies such as breaking assignments into smaller steps, creating structured routines, improving organization, reducing distractions, and finding study methods that better match the individual learner.
Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop

I have completed multiple college-level courses involving Adobe Photoshop and have extensive hands-on experience using it for photo editing, compositing, image manipulation, color correction, masking, retouching, and non-destructive editing. I have also passed Wyzant’s Photoshop subject qualification. I have worked with Adobe Creative Cloud for many years and am comfortable helping both beginners and more advanced users develop practical, professional Photoshop skills.

I personally took the ASVAB and earned a strong score before serving five years in the U.S. Army, including service as a tank crewman and gunner. Because of my military experience, I understand that the ASVAB is more than just another standardized test. Your scores can directly affect the military careers and specialties available to you. I can help with ASVAB math, arithmetic reasoning, reading and vocabulary, mechanical concepts, science, technical subjects, and overall AFQT preparation. My approach focuses on identifying where you are losing points, strengthening those areas, and helping you become faster and more confident on test day.
Computer Gaming

Computer Gaming

A dedicated video game fan since 1987, at the age of 6 learned to install games on a PS/2 with DOS operating system using only the command line. I started building computers around 2006 when I decided to transition from consoles to more customizable PCs. Since that time, I have built no less than 8 unique systems for myself and various others for friends and families - most of which were gaming centric. Interestingly and relatedly, I served in the US Army as a combat soldier for 5 years. While video games will never translate into real war, nor make you a better shot in real life, many of the concepts and tactics we mastered in the Army: teamwork, counter-ambush maneuvers, flanking, etc. translate into the competitive video game scene making much better players. Most people just need an experienced coach familiar with both - In order to objectively analyze a player's shortcomings which, they may not be willing to look at; followed by designing drills to defeat that particular weakness. So, whether it's designing and building systems or breaking into the newly created and highly lucrative competitive video game industry, I'm someone with the ability to help you achieve your goal. I guarantee the individuals I tutor are happy with their lessons, and I'm enthusiastic about learning. If I can be of service, please reach out!
Computer Science

Computer Science

I have my Bachelors of Science - Cybersecurity. I’m a current cybersecurity professional and technology educator with a strong background in computer systems, networking, digital forensics, and security. My interests sit at the intersection of cybersecurity, physical security, and understanding how computers actually work beneath the surface. I have experience across a wide range of technical areas, including computer hardware, CPU operations, memory, assembly and machine code, operating systems, reverse engineering, cryptography, public and private key systems, programming, web technologies, networking, subnetting, the OSI model, penetration testing, system auditing, Windows, Linux, and cybersecurity tools and techniques. What really drives me is understanding computers at a fundamental level. I have always been fascinated by the fact that we took materials as simple as silicon and built machines capable of storing information, processing instructions, communicating across the world, and performing incredibly complex tasks. That curiosity is also how I teach. I do not just want students to memorize commands or definitions. I want them to understand what is happening underneath, why it works, and how the different layers of a computer system connect together. Whether you need help with cybersecurity, networking, Linux, programming, digital forensics, computer architecture, reverse engineering, or you simply want to understand computers on a deeper level, I can help you build that knowledge step by step.

He Knows His Programming

A thoughtful, detail-oriented individual that knows his subjects well. He accomplished in 20 minutes what another with years of experience could not accomplish in over an hour. I employed him to set up my new pc with Linux which he easily accomplished, including an important Windows-only program he easily imported from my Windows pc to my Linux pc. If you have a Linux question, situation, or just want someone to properly setup your pc to run Linux, you cannot do better than Matthew. And he's a really nice guy too. :-)

Quick-to-Learn an app he'd never seen before...and then helped me figure it out!

Matthew learned a high-tech animation quickly in order to help me. As I've used the app a bit before, together, we figured it out, so he's a good listener and team-player as well. Even prorated the hour charge and provided a written summary of what we did.

problem solved and lesson learned

Matt was total awesome! He showed me so many additional Powershell commands and I was astounded. He had patience with my slow typing but knew when to take over to speed up the process. As a non traditional older budding IT professional, Matt gave me confidence that some day I will be an asset to an organization as a network administrator. What a boost of confidence. Many tutors look down on newbie’s- happily no such attitude for Matt! I would recommend Matt for any studying Windows Active Directory topics! He was great also with VM’s!

Patient and efficient

Matthew worked with me on CompTIA+ certification Core 2 exam study. He was very patient, used every minute of the hour efficiently, was quick to encourage and gentle with my ego (I have had teachers/tutors complain that I can't seem to learn or grasp the material). I felt my knowledge and confidence in the exam and the topics grow by the second. I look forward to our second session and am excited to ace my exam!
