I love teaching and I am passionate about teaching social studies. I have spent the last 20+ years as a high school social studies teacher teaching topics including AP Government, AP European History, American Government, US History, Psychology, Multi-Cultural History, and Sociology. My primary focus is AP US Government and Politics which I have taught the last several years. Additionally, I have been an AP Test Reader for the College board for the past several years which gives me a unique skill set of understanding the scoring process of the open-ended portion of the test so I can help you to better understand both the content and skills necessary to get the highest scores.

I am a graduate of Penn State University-Main Campus where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education-Social Studies and Minors in History and Geography while earning dean's list recognition all 4 semesters. Additionally I have an M.A. from the University of Illinois-Springfield in Teacher Leadership, M.Ed. from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Social Studies Education, and and M.A. from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in History focusing on the Cold War. As a lifelong student myself, I understand the challenges that learners face as they work their way through their education.

As an educator and tutor the two most important questions I want to know is where are you at currently in your level of understanding and where is it you want to go. From there I will use my 20+ years of teaching experience, my content expertise, and my experience as an AP Teacher and Grader to develop a plan to get you there. My goal is to listen to you, understand how it is that you need to be supported, and then provide that in a clear manner to help you reach your full potential. I am a patient teacher and understand that the needs of each student are going to be unique and plan for that accordingly.
