My name is George Li. I obtained my B. S. in China. I got almost full score for each math test from grade 1 to grade 12. During the college, I had more than three years tutoring experience with subjects such as Math, Chemistry, English, and Physics.
Then I moved to the United States and obtained a PhD degree in Chemistry. I also had numerous years of tutoring experience in NYC, CT, and PA for students from elementary to high school students. I helped them math and chemistry courses at different levels and test preparations, such as PSAT, SAT, ACT, etc. From 2016 to 2021, I taught Mathcounts (all levels) at Huaxia Chinese School at Great Valley for hundreds of students. Each level many students advanced to state level, and even national level competition. Then I spent two years to teach SAT math to help high school students to boost their SAT math scores.
I will use my specific teaching philosophy to help you. As for Chemistry, I encourage students to understand the basic concepts instead of merely memorizing them. I also need to point out that it DO require time to memorize some simple facts, but as less as possible.
I have a very solid educational background in mathematics. As for Math, two general approaches will be employed. First, I encourage students to convert words (especially word problems) into images (such as writing equations, drawing number lines, coordinate planes, etc.) to make sure that you understand the problems correctly and accurately. Second, I encourage students to use multiple methods to solve a problem at the beginning so that they can gradually be trained to explore the best method (not the simplest, though!) that be suitable for themselves.
