In high school, I took Algebra 2, Precalculus, AP Calculus BC (5 on the exam), Multivariable Calculus and Advanced Applications (Calculus 3), and AP Statistics (5 on the exam). I also have an extensive background in science, having taken AP Chemistry (5 on the exam), AP Physics C: Mech, and AP Physics C: E&M (5 on both).
I have been a Mathematics Tutor at Mathnasium in Paoli for approximately 2 years. I taught there, receiving high praise from both the manager and the other tutors for my hands-on teaching method and a style that promotes grassroots understanding of Mathematics over rote memorization. I was also called upon for my extensive mathematics knowledge and often requested to take and teach the older kids. I approach every student as unique, each having their own background and method of understanding complex topics. I value having conversations with students, whether about the topic at hand or something they will explore in the future. I also value showing students the "bigger picture" — what their mathematical skills could look like if they put in the work.
I teach kids of all ages---from pre-K all the way to 12th grade. I taught in a flipped classroom where students worked on their assigned, unique problem sets and then raised their hands to ask a question if they had one. As a high-level tutor, I was given anywhere from five to fifteen students at a time. My skills were often reserved for the older kids, as other tutors lacked the necessary mathematical background to teach more advanced topics effectively.
