Thank you for visiting my profile. I educate children because I take great satisfaction in seeing them grow and progress. My approach to tutoring is to guide students toward comprehending subject matter. I use a question and answer type of approach that prompts students to figure out concepts for themselves. A good example of this would be guiding students toward understanding the difference between a persuasive essay and an argumentative one. I find this approach to be much more effective than just telling a student answers. It facilitates deeper understanding of core concepts that can be applied to future learning.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University. My major was Political Science and I minored in History. Additionally, I earned a Master of Education degree from Temple University with a concentration in secondary Social Studies instruction. I am certified in English and Social Studies in Pennsylvania and I teach in Upper Darby School District at the middle school level. Before working in Upper Darby, I taught in the School District of Philadelphia. I have been teaching effectively for eight years and I strive to see all of my students succeed and grow. I have taught Language Arts and Social Studies throughout my career. In Social Studies, I have taught U.S. and World History. In Language Arts, I have taught reading, writing, and grammar.
