Hello Fellow Artists and Writers,
My name is Claudia, and I am a local artist/writer with a background in two dimensional fine art including painting (watercolor, oil, acrylic, acrylic inks, pastel and gouache), drawing (pencil, color pencil, charcoal, graphite, marker, and pen & ink), cartooning, printmaking (woodcut, linocut, monoprint), mixed media and illustration. I am currently working on a cartoon/story series about my cat BooBoo.
I have also taught beginning/intermediate mosaics using a wide variety of materials including stone, eggshell, glass, sea glass, and clay. Paper clay is a newer medium which is totally non-toxic and yields beautiful results. Working with paper clay might be a great way for a young child to explore the three dimensional aspects of art making. I always encourage students not to be afraid to take a chance. Exploring all of their options strengthens their work and makes it that much richer. Some wonderful works of art have evolved from mistakes. I also encourage students to explore all possibilities to find the best solution to each unique project they are working on.
Writing is also an expressive form of communication which I love. Did you ever read a story where you could see every detail of the story in your mind? This happens when there is a perfect balance of sentence structure and descriptive phrasing. The best story tellers are very familiar with their subject, and, they pick the most convincing arrangement of sentences to illustrate their story. Telling a story is not always a simple thing, but it can be broken down into simple components. I would like to help you with this!
I was educated at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, PA.
Thank you!
