I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, with a 3.8 GPA throughout college. I have my MLS and have worked as the Librarian for Science and Mathematics at Towson University in Maryland. What this means is that I am familiar with mathematical concepts ranging from Algebra to Calculus and much more. My librarian skills are valuable because I am aware of all the great resources available for finding out more information. Also as a librarian, I have taught information literacy skills to undergraduate and graduate students for three years.
I work with students in all levels of mathematics, from algebra to calculus and also SAT preparation. Whether you just want some extra help preparing for a test or you want regular sessions to help you get back on track, I will be happy to help!
I meet students at the Henrietta Hankin Library in Chester Springs---if this will work for you, please contact me! I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, with a 3.8 GPA throughout college. After one session with Amanda my daughter understood concepts that her algebra teacher couldn't teach her. The grade on her first quiz after just 3 sessions with Amanda went up 50 points (proof of how effective she is!!) and she has confidence that she really understands the material. My daughter feels very comfortable with Amanda and says the time with her flies by as she is engaging and fun yet also calm and patient. I highly recommend Amanda.
Amanda had tremendously helped my daughter. She has now has more confidence going into her exams and her grades have improved significantly. I would recommend Amanda to anyone who could use help or assistance with high school math!
I selected Amanda after reading her wonderful reviews from other student families. She helped my daughter with Geometry over several sessions. Each time we left my daughter understood all that confused her in her classroom. I'm so happy to say that the last marking period my daughter earned an A in Geometry. We are very thankful to Amanda and express our gratitude by recommending her to friends.
She was very helpful and easy to work with and patient. I only wish she was closer in terms of distance.
Thanks to Amanda, my daughter is not only doing better in math, she actually enjoys math! Amanda's calm, relaxed and focused style has helped my high school daughter significantly, allowing her to understand the math concepts introduced in class so she can perform better on her tests and when completing her homework. The way Amanda connects with my daughter on math has helped her understand and appreciate math concepts in ways she never has before and in ways that just don't come through in a busy classroom. I am glad we found Amanda and wished we had her as my daughter's math tutor years ago.
Amanda is a very pleasant person with good command of the subject matter. Her communication skills and teaching manner gave confidence to my son and made the learning experience very beneficial. My son achieved success in his math studies and looks forward to working with Amanda again upon return from his boarding school. He noted that Amanda was as good as any teacher he's ever had!
Half way through the school year my son started to struggle in Algebra, Amanda was able to jump right in and help him get back on track. Amanda is a fantastic tutor, I would highly recommend her! She is patient, knowledgeable and flexible.
Amanda is a great tutor. She knows many different ways to teach and make you understand what you are learning. Sometimes she knows that I am having difficulty with a concept before I do and quickly adjusts her tutoring style accordingly. Studying with Amanda has given me a much better understanding of math. A++ would recommend her to anyone.
Amanda has been a great tutor for my college Calculus II material. She is very knowledgeable on a wide range of mathematical material and is able to answer any questions I may have. She prepares for lessons ahead of time and is very organized in her work. She truly cares about the outcome of the student’s performance with the material. Amanda has even been kind enough to write up explanations for certain problems and email them after hours through a PDF document, VERY helpful! She is also very easy to keep in touch with whether it’s via email or phone. She responds promptly and is very flexible with scheduling. Overall, Amanda is a great tutor and I would highly recommend her to any student at the high school or college level!
I have worked with many tutors at my college and a few from this site that were also helpful. However, I find it extremely easy to work with Amanda. She will make you (the student) think about a problem but not leave you hanging, as to get frustrated, which can lead to a student shutting down. I have the utmost confidence that she knows her material, and I look forward to our sessions. Why? Becasuse I am learning the material and it is fun now, because I can follow along with the class, or with the text. Also, something that Amanda offers that some of the older tutors can not, she is young enough to: remember the most recent material, she can use the graphing utility (calculator), which some of my tutors could not, and she can relate to the younger student's needs. I will continue to use Amanda for this PreCalculus II course and my Calculus I course. As a father, I would not hesitate to ask Amanda to work with my our children. Amanda has always been very polite and respectful, you owe it to yourself to see what I am talking about when I say that she is a great tutor.
Our children have had several tutoring sessions with Amanda. She has been very knowledgeable and patient. Both have asked to have more sessions. When middle school students ask for more, that is a tremendous compliment in itself. We are looking forward to having Amanda help both children achieve their potential success in math.
Amanda has been an excellent tutor for both our daughters. She has been flexible and willing to work around quiz and test schedules to really help when they needed it the most. She is knowledgeable and comes prepared for the section or chapter that they are struggling with at the time. She has helped them work through math problems until they feel confident with the material. She has really increased their confidence and that is reflected in their grades. We are so grateful to have found Amanda and it has truly helped make this year less stressful having her support.
Very patient in her teaching, not rushed, thorough and easy to understand. She is great at explaining details and helping with any problems. Highly recommended!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
