I am an experienced educator and tutor with over fifteen years of working with students of all ages, from pre-K to college level. My teaching background includes both in-person and virtual classroom settings, supported by specialized training in online education. I bring a warm, structured, and strategic approach to each session to ensure that students feel at ease while gaining confidence and mastery in the material.

I have extensive experience working with early learners who need targeted support in reading, writing, and spelling to be fully prepared for kindergarten—often helping them exceed expected benchmarks. I also work with graduate students who may be returning to academia after time away and need support navigating the transition. In addition, I have spent years teaching and tutoring middle school and high school students in both traditional classrooms and one-on-one or small group settings.

My primary focus is in English Language Arts and Communication, including public speaking, writing, and reading comprehension. However, over the years, I’ve successfully expanded into additional subjects, using effective strategies that translate across disciplines. I also work with homeschooling families, providing structure, lesson planning, and executive function coaching to support independent learning.

I am a Pennsylvania certified English Teacher. I have worked in the classroom for many years and tutored for over a decade. Phonics is the heart of the English language (as well as other languages!) and certainly part of what I teach on a daily basis. At its root, phonics incorporates pairing the sounds of words when we speak with other letters or groups of letters. Furthermore, the sound a k makes might be spelled as k, c, ck, or ch. Learning to mesh sounds of letters when together is the core of the English language. There are five parts of reading according to the National Reading Panel, which are: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Understanding phonics from the most basic level described above, to the most extreme levels of understanding a language. Reading and speaking those written words takes effort and understanding. Once mastered, a person will be successful at communicating in a way never before. Vocabulary will grow from reading more alone, yet comprehending phonics thoroughly will also help in using and sounding or spelling out foreign words. When we comprehend the phonetical components of a language, we succeed in all the things written or spoken in that language--which is where my undergraduate and graduate degrees are focused.

I myself received tutoring before I could take both of my PRAXIS exams. This was for months leading up to my successful passing of both exams. Now, I tutor locally and help soon-to-be teachers learn how the process works and what to expect on the exams.
