I began my professional journey as a writer and teacher, earning my MFA in Creative Writing from American University, where I taught two semesters of composition and facilitated creative writing workshops. I also held a fellowship with AU’s Office of Merit Awards, helping students apply for prestigious programs like the Boren Fellowship and Fulbright Scholarship. My MFA thesis was a completed book of short stories — a project that still brings me deep pride.

After leaving academia to pursue a more stable path, I built a successful career in IT. I now serve as Deputy Director of an IT department overseeing systems sustainment and modernization, leading a team of 70 professionals. I’m a PMP-certified project manager, and I’ve also worked at a Big 4 consulting firm managing complex software development portfolios. In this role, I’ve taken on everything from hiring and talent development to strategic planning and executive leadership.

Though my career path led me into leadership and technology, my passion for creative writing — especially fiction and memoir — has remained strong. I’m deeply committed to the craft of storytelling and find great fulfillment in helping others tap into their own creative voices.
