Patrick has more than 12 years of experience helping students improve their reading comprehension, grammar, writing, and test-taking skills. Before settling in Philadelphia, he tutored throughout Los Angeles as well as online across the US and Asia. Patrick builds an individualized plan for each student, combining patience and compassion with precise, data-informed lessons. His sessions utilize direct instruction, skill-focused drills, timed practice, and a detailed review of incorrect answers, as well as correct answers that were reached through unreliable reasoning. Because no two students are the same, Patrick develops his plans with the flexibility to adjust them as a student’s skills and performance develop.
Patrick is also a professional television writer who has worked for acclaimed writer-producer David Milch and developed a television project with Academy Award-winning actress Anna Paquin. That experience taught him how to recognize what makes a story distinctive, find its emotional center, and help a writer express an idea in a voice that feels natural, memorable, and unmistakably their own.

He interviews students, helps them uncover the experiences and ideas that matter most to them, and guides them through brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revision.
