Hi! I'm Ed Z., a math and computer science educator based out of Bethlehem, PA. I'm interested in helping students in both disciplines at both the high school and university level, specializing in introductory CS courses, high school mathematics, and SAT prep.
I received my B.S. from Wilkes University dual majoring in Math and Computer Science, followed up by a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo. While at Waterloo, I was a teaching assistant for 6 different CS courses, including Comp Sci 1, Software Engineering, Set Theory and Logic, and Data Structures. I held office hours, provided feedback and guidance on homework, and led recitations for several classes. I've spent the past 8 years working at a software security startup.
My teaching philosophy prioritizes example-driven learning. When describing new concepts, I try to always begin with very simple examples before describing general principles, finally ending with more complex problems. I prioritize continuous feedback loops with students to ensure that there is a solid understanding of the material before moving on to new topics. As a tutor, I also believe collaborative problem solving is useful to more quickly grasp the material.
Looking forward to working with you!
