I am an experienced English educator with over 10 years of classroom teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Secondary English Education. I have worked with students at the middle school, high school, and college levels, helping them become confident readers and effective writers.

I specialize in academic writing, reading comprehension, and college application essays. Whether a student needs help organizing an essay, strengthening a thesis, improving grammar and sentence clarity, or developing close reading skills, I provide clear instruction and supportive feedback tailored to each student’s needs.

In addition to teaching, I have professional experience editing and proofreading academic, business, and narrative writing. This allows me to help students not only improve individual assignments, but also build long-term writing skills they can apply across classes.

My tutoring style is patient, structured, and encouraging. I focus on teaching strategies that students can apply independently rather than just correcting work.

Creative Writing

Creative Writing

For several years at New Rochelle High School, I taught the senior Creative Writing elective. I developed curriculum for the course, providing students with concrete instruction, models, and prompts to explore poetry, fiction, and nonfiction forms of creative writing across a variety of genres. In 2022, I was selected to participate in the New York Public Library's Cullman Center Institute for Teachers creative writing summer seminar, "And Then What Happened?: On The Art of Storytelling."
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

As a high school English teacher, I spent over a decade developing tools, resources, and strategies to help my students improve their academic essay writing skills. I help students focus on target elements across narrative, literary analysis, and persuasive forms of writing, with a focus on structure, clarity, evidence, and style. I also have helped hundreds of senior students develop strong college application essays. I love guiding students through all phases of the writing process (brainstorming, drafting, revising, and polishing) so they feel confident with the essays they create.
Grammar

Grammar

As a high school English Teacher, I spent ten years supporting students in understanding the use of and reasoning behind grammar and mechanics practices. I also am a freelance proofreader with expertise in both MLA and CMOS style guides. My goal is not just to "correct" and move on, but to help students learn the "why" and "how" of important grammar rules.
