Hi! I’m Marissa, a dedicated tutor with a strong background in science and education. I graduated summa cum laude from Allegheny College in 2023 with a degree in neuroscience and a minor in global health studies. During my time at Allegheny, I worked as both a tutor and teaching assistant in multiple science courses, helping students master challenging concepts. Currently, I am completing my master’s in biomedical sciences at Duquesne University and will be starting medical school at WVSOM this fall.
I have extensive experience in tutoring college-level subjects, including calculus, biology, and neuroscience, as well as serving as a certified teaching assistant in general chemistry, organic chemistry, and introductory psychology. In addition to my work at the college level, I have experience tutoring elementary students (K–5) in math, reading, and science. As a certified elementary substitute teacher, I work with students of all ages, providing both classroom instruction and one-on-one support.
The subjects I tutor include college-level sciences such as biology, neuroscience, anatomy, and psychology, as well as high school biology, anatomy, and chemistry. I also tutor elementary and middle school students in math, science and reading My approach is tailored to each student’s learning style, ensuring they gain confidence and a deeper understanding of the material.
