I love to write in my own time and I want to help others to recognize their own potential as fellow writers. While skills like grammar and spelling are important for students to learn, and I do provide advice in those areas, I also think that it is important for students to become effective communicators in their own right.
I am currently an instructor at Lehigh University where I teach a writing course each semester while enrolled as a Master's student. I have past experience as a writing tutor at Moravian College where I received a Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration on writing arts.
I enjoy working with students because I recognize that everyone has the potential to become an effective writer if given the opportunity. And while not every student will become a novelist, effective writing is a skill that is valued in every profession. That's why I approach tutoring students with an open mind and with a recognition that I am only helping them to achieve their goals rather than instructing them on what is good or bad writing.
If you are interested, please contact me and we can develop an individualized learning plan. I am happy to help with all aspects of the writing process, from invention – where I can offer advice on how to plan to write, conducting research, and developing outlines – to revision where the focus shifts to polishing drafts and understanding what edits should be made to effectively communicate your ideas.
