Welcome, students! My name is Dr. Alexander T. I am a high school tutor specializing in Humanities, especially Classics, English, Literature, History, Writing, and Ancient Greek. I have been in education of some form for over 10 years and in private tutoring specifically for the last 5 years, having taught graduate students, college students, high schoolers, and middle schoolers from a variety of backgrounds. I hold a BA from the University of Oregon, an MA from St. Vladimir's Theological Seminary, and a PhD from Princeton Theological Seminary. I am also a professional translator of Greek, with my most recent work being The Triads by Gregory Palamas (St. Vladimir's Seminary Press, 2025).

I love to read texts of all kinds with students (anything from ancient history to Shakespeare to 21st century novels), helping them through dialogue and discussion to navigate difficult language and concepts and become better readers, thinkers, and communicators. In addition to reading comprehension, I also teach expository writing, guiding students through each step of the process so that they can express themselves in a clearer, more compelling way. One of the things I really enjoy about tutoring is that I can draw on my expertise as an academic historian to form a personalized curriculum that addresses the particular needs and interests of each individual student. I want each of my students to find joy, success, and excellence in whatever they do.

I hold a Master of Arts in Theology and a ThM from an ATS-accredited Christian Seminary. I have taught Biblical Greek for over 10 years at multiple levels (from graduate school to middle school) and worked professionally as a translator for Biblical and other theological texts.

I have been reading and studying Classics academically for most of my adult life, with the last 5 years focused on teaching middle school and high school specifically. I read and study everything, from the ancient Greeks to the novelists of the 21st century. I also have experience as a professional translator, with my most recent work coming in at over 90,000 words.
