With nearly two decades of experience as a passionate educator, I bring a depth of knowledge and a student-centered philosophy to my tutoring. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching from George Fox University and a Bachelor’s in English Literature from Western Oregon University, along with Oregon endorsements in both Language Arts and Multiple Subjects.
My career spans high school and middle school instruction, including International Baccalaureate (IB) Language and Literature, AVID, and Language Arts classes rooted in critical thinking, literacy, and inquiry-based learning. I’ve worked extensively with students across a wide range of ages and backgrounds—from middle schoolers developing foundational skills to high schoolers preparing for college-level analysis and writing. My approach blends academic rigor with relational teaching; I believe students learn best when they feel seen, supported, and empowered. Whether guiding students one-on-one or leading full classrooms, I use scaffolded instruction, goal setting, and reflection to promote growth and confidence. My AVID training enhances my ability to teach strategies around writing, organization, and inquiry that serve students well beyond the classroom.
Beyond the classroom, I’ve mentored new teachers, coached youth sports, and coordinated community service nights- always seeking to build meaningful connections. Tutoring allows me to tailor learning to each student's needs, pace, and interests—something I find deeply rewarding.
I am excited to bring my experience, enthusiasm, and belief in every student’s potential to each session.
