I am a Special Education teacher currently working at the high school level, where I support students in Algebra 1, Pre-Algebra, and foundational math skills. I hold a teaching license in Special Education and have several years of experience working with students who have diverse learning needs, including ADHD, learning disabilities, and executive functioning challenges. In my classroom, I co-teach and also provide targeted small-group and individualized instruction, which has allowed me to develop a strong ability to break down complex math concepts into clear, manageable steps.
My approach to tutoring focuses on building both understanding and confidence. Many of the students I work with have struggled with math in the past, so I prioritize creating a supportive environment where mistakes are part of the learning process. I use structured, step-by-step instruction, visual supports, and guided practice to help students truly understand the “why” behind the math—not just memorize procedures. I also incorporate executive functioning strategies such as organization, task breakdown, and study skills to help students become more independent learners.
I have experience working with high school students in both general education and specialized settings, as well as supporting middle school-level math skills when needed. While I may be new to formal tutoring platforms, my daily teaching experience involves one-on-one and small-group support that closely mirrors tutoring. I am committed to helping each student make meaningful progress at their own pace, and I take pride in adapting my instruction to meet each learner’s unique needs.
