Hi, I'm Matt! A passionate & innovative mathematics teacher with over a decade of classroom experience, I graduated in 2010 with my BA in Mathematics with Teaching Credentials. I've taught 7th Grade Math through Calculus. The two most impactful experiences in my career have been winning the 2017 Rosenthal Prize for Innovation from the Museum of Math in NYC, and attending the selective Park City Math Institute’s Teacher Leadership Program!

I’m great at relating to students and meeting them where they are. Every student is different, and learning is complex; I embrace this through catering my approach to each student. I work hard to help students trust themselves and to retain what they learn, all based on my experience and extensive knowledge of learning research.

I’ve helped multiple students achieve higher grades and confidence through applying core principles, even helping some who always thought they were bad at math become A students. I’ve spent much of my time reading about and testing strategies to see what really works with learning. Perhaps the best example of this is when I once restructured a math class to provide more individualized, focused support and the pass rate went from around 70% to 95%.

My favorite things to spend time doing are working with students in creating “lightbulb” moments, tackling problems creatively, making math relevant, showing how to ask the right questions, and exploring the interconnectedness of math.
