I am a veteran college professor of over 20 years who has taught undergraduates and graduates (at small colleges and Ivy League universities) how to read and write better, develop their perspective, communicate their ideas, and achieve the results they want. My work on admissions committees for college-level grants and scholarships, as well as mentoring high school and college students as a professor, gives me deep experience helping students write their college application essays (both for undergraduate and graduate admissions) and scholarship/grant applications.

My passion, as well as my skills, are in helping students to understand the prompt, and then connect their own ideas and interests to that prompt, so that writing becomes an invitation to giving voice to ideas and perspectives that matter to the student. I believe strongly that when we write about what we care about, our writing is strongest and most compelling. In addition to college-level writing and admissions materials, I can also help middle and high school students with their reading and writing assignments, as well as adult learners who need to hone their reading and writing skills. I am patient, enthusiastic, experienced, and a published expert in medieval literature.

PhD, Cornell University, in Medieval Studies, with specialization in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. I have a very high acceptance rate in my own applications to college and graduate school, and I have helped my students gain admittance to dozens of colleges and universities in the Pacific NW, around the US, including top-tier research and Ivy League universities, and international research universities, as well. My students have regularly won writing awards, writing scholarships and grants, and my own teaching and publications are also award-winning.

Whether you are a middle school student needing to build writing skills or a college student needing help with a term paper or hoping to apply to graduate school, I'm enthusiastic to bring my years of writing traini
