Hello, my name is Andrew. I am a graduate of the University of Oregon with two degrees in Spanish and Human Physiology. Currently I am in dental school, and as a top 5% ranking student in my class, I am planning to pursue an oral surgery residency. Hello, my name is Andrew. I am a graduate of the University of Oregon with two degrees in Spanish and Human Physiology. Currently I am in dental school, and as a top 5% ranking student in my class, I am planning to pursue an oral surgery residency. I also am volunteering as a simultaneous interpreter in Korean and English every weekend.
I have been teaching in one way or another since I was in high school, starting in 2016. I began my career by teaching SAT and ACT to family friends, and I quickly learned that I had a passion for one on one teaching. As I moved into my undergraduate years I began teaching Korean, my native language, and music. Even as I progressed into dental school, I taught fellow classmates and underclassmen in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, dental hand skills, and biochemistry. As such, I've had the joy of working with many students, differing in age, interests, learning styles, and learning goals. As a tutor, I love connecting with your own experiences to make sure that you are in charge of your learning. I firmly believe that learning and studying can be made easy and enjoyable for anyone.
If you would like to learn Korean with me, we will spend time learning about your goals as a Korean learner, and tailor our lesson plans to spend the most time learning what you want to learn, while mastering the fundamentals.
If you would like to work on standardized testing, I can provide strategies to make sure you excel in mastering the approach to the problem and seeing the big picture. Personally, my first attempts were in the 50% percentile for both the SAT and ACT, but by developing and applying the strategies that I teach, I was able to bring the scores up to 1550 and 35 for the SAT and ACT on my second attempt.
I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals!

Korean

I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea for 11 years of my life, and have gotten the opportunity to translate in both Korean and English for families including mine, who are separated or have a hard time in communication. Furthermore, I have experience translating in legal, religious, and musical settings for Korean as well. I have taught Korean as a paid tutoring job for family friends and official clients for 5+ years. I am capable of understanding the cultural implications of both languages, and can effectively communicate what cannot be taught through books, videos, or other resources.
