About Elizabeth

Bio

Currently a career scientist at a major university, I work daily in a laboratory environment on alcoholism research in behavioral neuroscience. During my undergraduate career, I learned that I enjoy presenting complex large picture concepts in smaller bite sized (and hopefully comical) break downs. Teaching people about the things I'm passionate is a skill I've honed both in one on one interactions and through larger scale talks to the general scientific community.

I would love to help...

I would love to help direct students who wish to pursue a career in the natural sciences, or to help anyone struggling with the more frustrating aspects of studying the physical world.

I graduated from Reed College with an interdisciplinary degree in Biology and Psychology, and feel confident in dissecting out topics from those subjects up to an undergraduate level.

I was successfully able to be accepted to my first choice school and feel that I have additional advice based on understanding how undergraduate school choice affects later career decisions.

The elementary concepts in science can be daunting and can discourage students, especially women, from pursuing the natural sciences further along on their career path's. Encouraging students to see science for what it is, namely a fun way of understanding how the world around us really works, can be a fun and engaging process! I have previously worked with students in biology and psychology classes, and work hard to make sure concepts click for someone.

Please contact me to find out more information, and let me help you get excited about science!
