I taught American Sign Language at the community college level for 7 years, teaching 55 classes (more than 3700 hours) to at least 1100 students. I was part of the ASL Master team for "Switched at Birth" for 4 years, working as a dialogue coach and was also a consultant for professional theatre interpreters. In addition, I have developed and taught private ASL classes to actors, writers, producers, and publicists working in the TV and film industry in Los Angeles.

I receive detailed summaries after each class on what we worked on and the things I need to work on. She is very helpful, friendly and great at teaching ASL. I would highly recommend her.

Excellent teacher
I've been a classroom teacher for 12 years, and a private tutor for 20; I know a great deal about the specific skill set required for each job. Kalen is the right person for both. She is exceptionally skilled at determining a student's level without clunky quizzes or tests, and she has already formulated a plan of action that will highlight the areas I'm interested in studying while providing necessary context and linguistic history facts to enrich the experience. And she manages to do it all in a warm, friendly and supportive manner.
